Registration steps
- 1Register at https://www.sshn.nl/ik-zoek-een-kamer/inschrijven.
- 2Make sure you can show valid proof of study - the portal explicitly warns that you cannot apply without it.
- 3Browse the offer at https://mijn.sshn.nl - this works without logging in, on a map or as a list.
- 4Apply to the rooms you want. SSH& allocates nearly all of its offer by lottery, not by registration time.
- 5New listings appear weekly on Wednesday around 12:00; check then, because the stock empties out afterwards.
- 6If you win the lottery you are notified through Mijn SSH&.
Required Documents
- ✓Proof of enrollment (students)
Indicative: most landlords ask for documents at or after the viewing, not with your first response.

Tips for applying
- •Allocation is by lottery: on 12 August 2026, 61 of 62 listings ran through a lottery and 1 through urgency. Registration time does not count here.
- •Without valid proof of study you cannot apply, even if you are registered.
- •New listings go online weekly on Wednesday around 12:00 - that is the moment to look.
- •The offer is almost entirely in Nijmegen: 56 of 62 listings, against 6 in Arnhem.
- •Gross rents ranged from roughly 520 to 710 euro per month; housing benefit is possible for many rooms.
- •Expect one-off contract costs (29.50 euro on one measured unit).
- •Some units have a hard target-group restriction, for example international PhD candidates or doctoral researchers only.
- •Contact details are at https://www.sshn.nl/home/over-ons/contact/contactgegevens; no direct phone number or email address is published on the site itself.
